Mitcham recovers from shocker to win national title

Olympic gold medallist Matthew Mitcham has recovered from an embarrassing opening round flop to win the 1m springboard final at the Australian diving championships in Sydney on Friday.

The 10m platform champion at the 2008 Beijing Games completely messed up his second dive in the preliminary round, landing on the back of his shoulders at Sydney Olympic Park.

"After it, everybody in the pool had their mouths open," Mitcham's coach Chava Sobrino told AAP. [more]
